Vivian Pham (Australia)
Vivian Pham is a novelist, essayist, poet from southwestern Sydney. In high school she wrote the novel The Coconut Children (2020). In 2021 she won the Sydney Morning Herald Best Young Australian Novelist Award, and the Matt Richell Award for New Writer of the Year. She’s currently adapting The Coconut Children for stage with Belvoir Theatre and screen with Exit Films. She is also working as a screenwriter with SeeSaw Films. She is most passionate about issues surrounding post-colonialism, feminism, prison reform, structuralized racism, and Third World solidarity.
