Murong Xuecun (China)
Murong Xuecun (nom de plume of Hao Qun) is one of China’s most famous authors. Through his novels and narrative non-fiction, he has been a rare independent voice writing from inside China. His books include the novels, Leave Me Alone: A Novel of Chengdu (2009) and Dancing Through Red Dust (2015), and the non-fiction People’s Literature Prize winner The Missing Ingredient (2010). Murong writes for The New York Times. His latest work of narrative non-fiction is Deadly Quiet City: Stories from Wuhan Covid Ground Zero (2022).
