Tom Patterson (Australia)
Tom Patterson grew up in the New England region of New South Wales. He won a 2022 Walkley Award for his Australian Magazine article, Lost Soul which was a precursor to the publication of Missing (2022). In all the time he spent hiking in the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, he never came across Mark May, the man whose true story he writes about in Missing (2022).
