Ariane Beeston is a former child protection caseworker and psychologist with NSW’s Department of Communities and Justice (formerly Department of Community Services.) Following the birth of her first son, Ariane experienced postnatal psychosis. After a year off work recovering, she joined Fairfax Media’s Essential Baby as a staff writer where she reported on everything from Baby Shark to umbilical cord phone chargers (don’t ask) and the latest parenting research. Her freelance writing has also been published in The Sydney Morning Herald, Daily Life, Babyology and Mamamia. Ariane currently works for Australia’s peak body in perinatal mental health, The Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE), as their Communications and Content Manager. Ariane is also a dancer and choreographer. Teaching ballet to pre-schoolers and adult beginners is one of the greatest joys of her life.
Her memoir is Because I’m Not Myself, You See (Black Inc, 2023).
