Melissa Davey (Australia)

Melissa Davey is Guardian Australia's Melbourne Bureau Chief. Her podcast series The Reckoning, which she collaborates on with David Marr and Miles Martignoni, won two New York Festival awards and was nominated for a Walkley. Melissa is a nominee in the 2019 Women in Leadership category Walkley award. She has been nominated for four Walkley awards, two Quill awards. She has also won awards for her work reporting on rheumatic heart disease in Aboriginal kids, and for her investigation into gynaecologist Emil Shaky Gayed which triggered a government inquiry. Melissa also does consulting work for GenVic, Our Watch, Mindframe and Vic Health on the issues of gender equality, family violence and mental health and the portrayal of these issues in the media. Her first book, A Fair Trial (Scribe) which follows the conviction of George Pell will be out in 2020.
